Chapter 9
Thomas
The sound of running water seeped into Thomasâs consciousness, making him open his eyes. He slowly blinked and tried to focus on what was around him and retrace recent events.
âElias,â he said in a drowsy voice as he lifted himself onto his elbows and looked at the other half of the bed, which was now empty.
He slipped out of bed and stumbled to the bathroom, yawning. He peeked inside and saw Elias in the shower, washing himself.
Not the right view for his early morning erection. He yanked at it, which only woke it up even more.
Option number one, the one hammering in his brain, was to squeeze under the water and squeeze something else, somewhere else. Such a round and perfect part of Elias that, for an instant, it enchanted him.
Option number two was to move away, get dressed, make coffee strong enough to wake him up, and at the same time, get him some dignity back.
He scrambled from the bathroom, put on a pair of boxers and a T-shirt, and passed a hand through his hair while heading toward the kitchen. A kitchen that, like the rest of the house, was spacious, bright, and with a central island big enough to prepare food on and serve as table for four.
Thomas turned on the espresso coffee machine, a refined pleasure he had started appreciating during one of his journeys in Italy while on his college summer vacations, and he leaned against the counter, looking out of the window, his ankles crossed and his arms stretched out to the sides. For a moment, he thought about Aiden and his habit of getting up early to prepare the coffee, but he pushed away the thought. Feeling guilty about his desire to keep living wouldnât help him at all.
âYou look like some magazine advertisement.â Eliasâs voice made him jump, and Thomas turned in his direction.
God, how beautiful he was. His hair was moist, dried only with a hand towel, and it fell on his face, partially covering his eyes. He wore the white T-shirt heâd had on the night before and a pair of boxers. He was barefoot and one foot was resting on his calf, looking like a sexy crane with a crooked smile.
âShould I take that as a compliment?â Thomas answered, moving his gaze away.
âDo you think they put men who are not beautiful in magazines?â
âIt depends. For example, in a forensic scientist magazine you can find everything.â
Elias grunted and lifted his gaze to the sky. âYou canât take a compliment for what it is, can you?â
Thomas sniggered. âWith you, itâs better to specify things, thatâs all.â
Elias moved nearer and peeked over his shoulder. âWhatâs that minuscule thing?â
âA small cup.â
âAnd what do you do with it?â
âI drink coffee.â
Elias barked a laugh. âExcuse me, but itâs so little. How can you drink out of that thing?â
Thomas smiled. âYouâre a man of a little faith, you know? Have you ever had an espresso?â
Elias wrinkled his nose and shook his head, shrugging.
âThen Iâll
